Job summary

Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is seeking a skilled drill operator to safely run blast hole rigs and support production. You will work with blast crews, follow drill plans, and maintain logs while upholding site safety and environmental standards.

The role offers training, development, and a rostered shift pattern. Relocation in the Northern Territory is preferred; applicants residing in NT are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating drill rigs in hard rock environments.
• Strong understanding of drilling safety and hazard identification.
• Relevant RII competencies and/or training transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Operate blast hole drill rigs in a safe and efficient manner
• Execute drilling activities in line with drill plans and production schedules
• Monitor ground conditions and adjust drilling parameters as required
• Conduct pre-start inspections and routine maintenance checks
• Maintain accurate drilling logs and report any issues or hazards
• Ensure compliance with site safety standards, procedures, and environmental requirements
• Work collaboratively with blast crew, mining production, supervisors, and other site personnel

Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a strong future. Located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, approximately 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola, we produce and process zinc, lead, and silver from our open-cut operation. Our products are transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and shipped globally, playing a crucial role in essential commodities used for mobility, infrastructure, and communications.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate blast hole drill rigs in a safe and efficient manner
• Execute drilling activities in line with drill plans and production schedules

Required Experience & Skills

• Proven experience operating one or more of the following drill rigs: Epiroc D65, DML, Pit Viper, or
• • Vermeer HDD drill (highly regarded)
• Experience on other drill rigs or heavy mining equipment considered highly transferable
• Current Open Driver's Licence (HR desirable)
• Demonstrated experience in hard rock environments (highly regarded)
• Strong understanding of drilling safety, hazard identification, and site procedures
• Relevant RII competencies and/or training transcripts must be provided
• Current RII for (highly regarded)
