Job summary

Glencore’s McArthur River Mine is seeking an experienced Ancillary Operator to join the team and support safe, efficient production at the open-cut zinc mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Minimum 12 months in open cut mining and a strong commitment to safety are essential. Experience on CAT loaders, dozers, graders, excavators, and haul trucks, plus GPS guidance and current RII tickets and a valid Australian driver’s licence, are required. FIFO from Darwin on a 7-on/7-off roster.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months’ experience in open cut mining.
• Strong commitment to safety, hazard identification and risk management.
• Experience working to engineered standards in high-risk areas (reactive materials, voids).

Responsibilities

• Operate ancillary equipment (CAT loaders, dozers, graders, excavators, haul trucks).
• Work safely in high-risk environments using precision GPS/machine guidance.
• Maintain compliance with safety standards and tickets during shift rotations.

We’re seeking experienced and safety-focused Mining Operators who can work confidently in complex, high-risk environments and contribute to safe, efficient production.

What we’re Looking For:

• Minimum 12 months’ experience in open cut mining, ideally in a remote FIFO operation
• A strong personal commitment to safety, hazard identification and risk management
• Demonstrated experience working to engineered standards and design in a high-risk operational areas, including working with reactive material and around voids
• Proven experience operating ancillary equipment with at least 12 months’ experience on one or more of the following:
  • Loaders: CAT 980, 992, 995
  • Dozers: CAT D10, D11 (including battering and sheeting work)
  • Graders: CAT 18
  • Excavators: CAT 336
  • Haul Trucks: 793D, 777, 785D
• Ability to operate using precision GPS / machine guidance systems (e.g. Modular or equivalent)
• Current RII tickets, VOCs and/or Training Transcripts for relevant machinery
• A current Australian driver’s licence
