Job summary

Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is seeking a Safety Advisor to join the Operational Safety team on a fixed-term basis through to March 2027. This site-based role provides coaching, guidance and practical safety support across open pit, processing plant, construction projects and Bing Bong port.

The position focuses on promoting a positive safety culture, ensuring regulatory and Glencore standard compliance, and partnering with leaders to drive continuous improvement on the Safety

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or higher is required.
  • Experience in health and safety within mining, construction, heavy industry or similar regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and safety management systems.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain the site's Safety and Health Management System.
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
  • Analyse safety performance data and prepare reports and insights.
  • Conduct workplace safety observations, inspections and audits.
  • Provide safety coaching and support to leaders and employees.
  • Deliver safety presentations and training sessions.
  • Maintain safety documentation and ensure compliance with standards.

Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. Located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola, MRM produces and processes zinc, lead, and silver from our open-cut mine. About The Role:

We are currently seeking a Safety Advisor to join our Operational Safety team on a fixed-term basis through to March 2027. This site-based position provides coaching, guidance and practical safety support across a diverse operational environment including the open pit, processing plant, construction projects and Bing Bong port facility.

This role plays a key part in promoting a positive safety culture, supporting compliance with legislative requirements and Glencore standards, and partnering with leaders and workgroups to drive continuous improvement as we progress on our Safety Citizenship journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and maintain the site's Safety and Health Management System.
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations and corrective action tracking.
  • Analyse safety performance data and prepare meaningful reports and insights.
  • Conduct workplace safety observations, inspections and audits.
  • Provide safety coaching, advice and support to leaders and employees.
  • Facilitate safety presentations, training sessions and awareness initiatives.
  • Maintain and improve safety documentation to ensure alignment with legislative and industry best practice requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with Glencore Health and Safety standards and applicable legislation.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to site safety initiatives.
Key Requirements:
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or higher qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in a health and safety role within mining, construction, heavy industry or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of work health and safety legislation and safety management systems.
  • Proven ability to build positive working relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of an organisation.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and reporting skills.
  • A proactive approach to safety, risk management and procedural compliance.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Passion for protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of others.
