Job summary

BYD Australia & New Zealand is seeking a Product Engineer to manage end-to-end delivery of digital solutions from requirements gathering to launch. The role bridges local business needs with global product standards, working with sales, dealers, IT and product teams at BYD’s Mulgrave office.

The successful candidate will ensure local requirements are translated into scalable product solutions, with experience in Agile environments and a strong ability to collaborate across international teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline. Equivalents considered.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in product management, product engineering, business analysis, or digital solution delivery on end-to-end projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with English and Chinese; ability to liaise with local and overseas teams.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and cross-functional delivery in automotive or tech domains is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with local sales teams, dealers and overseas business units to gather and analyse localized business requirements, and prepare requirement assessments, effort estimates, implementation plans and delivery milestones.
• Translate business requirements into clear and structured Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), user stories and feature backlogs, ensuring requirements are clearly communicated to global product and development teams.
• Coordinate and follow up on the end-to-end product delivery lifecycle, including requirements clarification, scheduling, development, testing, implementation and launch.
• Work closely with IT, product, development and business teams to identify and resolve requirements, technical and implementation issues throughout the delivery process.
• Conduct market and competitive research to identify relevant digital solutions and industry practices and provide recommendations for product and system improvements.
• Gather feedback from local users, sales teams and dealers, monitor product performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and optimization.
• Ensure local digital solutions are aligned with global product standards while addressing specific Australian market and business requirements.
