Job summary

Qantas Airways is seeking a Product Designer to own the end-to-end design and delivery of innovative mobile app experiences from discovery to iteration, collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams.

You will facilitate workshops, champion our design system, and ensure solutions meet brand, accessibility and quality standards while leveraging AI to speed prototyping and handover to developers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Service Design, UX, UI, CX or similar roles.
• Understanding of design for native apps and digital platforms.
• Strategic thinking to deliver innovative outcomes.
• User-centric focus on objectives and deliverables.
• Experience developing and promoting a product vision collaboratively.
• Wireframing, persona creation, user stories and user testing experience.
• Experience with UI design patterns.
• Familiarity with Lean, Design Thinking, Scrum and Kanban.
• Knowledge of usability and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0 AA).
• Proficient with tools like Miro, Figma, Lovable, ClaudeCode, Cursor, Adobe Creative Suite; JIRA and Confluence.

As a Product Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading the end-to-end design and delivery of innovative mobile app. experiences. You’ll transform complex customer and business challenges into clear, actionable solutions that delight our customers and drive real business value. This is a hands‑on opportunity, where you’ll be involved in every stage—from discovery and research, through planning and execution, to delivery and ongoing iteration. Working closely with our Product and Engineering teams, you’ll define problems, explore creative solutions, and help bring outstanding outcomes to life. We’re looking for a strong collaborator and influencer who thrives in a squad environment and can engage effectively with stakeholders. You’ll facilitate workshops, champion our design system, and ensure every solution meets Qantas’ brand, accessibility and quality standards. Leveraging AI-enabled tools, you will drive efficiency and innovation in design activities, including insight synthesis, exploration, prototyping and seamless handover.

We're keen to meet designers who are curious and hands‑on with AI in their workflow. If you've played around with the latest AI‑powered design tools, or have fresh ideas for using AI to spark creativity, speed up prototyping or make delivery smoother, you'll fit right in. You’ll have:

• 5+ years of experience in Service Design, UX, UI, CX, and/or a similar role.
• Tertiary qualification in Design, Human-Centered Design (HCD), or a relevant field.
• Understanding of design for native apps, conversational interfaces and other digital platforms.
• Strategic thinking to deliver innovative outcomes aligned with brief and brand.
• Ability to focus on objectives and deliverables at both technical and creative levels,
  always user-centric.
• Experience developing and promoting a product vision collaboratively.
• Some experience in concept development, wireframing, persona creation, user
  stories and user testing.
• Some experience working with and creating user interface design patterns.
• Experience of modern frameworks and rituals: Lean, Design Thinking, Scrum,
  Kanban.
• Knowledge of usability and accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.0 AA.
• Experience using modern industry tools such as Miro, Figma, Lovable, ClaudeCode,
  Cursor, and Adobe Creative Suite; collaboration tools like JIRA and Confluence.
• Practical experience using AI tools to streamline design handover to developers and
  generate code (e.g., Figma's AI plugins, ClaudeCode, Cursor, Lovable).
• Demonstrated logical reasoning and sound decision-making, including numerical
  analysis.
• Ability to identify and address flawed logic and resolve errors.
• Ability to solve high‑impact design challenges in large, complex organisations.
• Strong facilitation skills, with a track record of successful outcomes.
• Ability to communicate design concepts to stakeholders, adapting to the audience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current digital design standards and industry trends.
