Job summary

Archer Daniels Midland Company is seeking a Process Engineer for the Velva, ND site. You will lead day-to-day operations, manage projects, track costs and yields, and mentor front-line teammates across contractors and ADM colleagues.

The role supports a 24/7 plant environment at a canola processing facility with a mix of hourly and salaried staff. You will work with multiple stakeholders, drive process improvements, and oversee capital projects while maintaining safety and quality as priorities.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Ag preferred) or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a food processing production environment or similar.
• Previous leadership experience.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality.
• Demonstrated leadership, strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage personnel and work closely with corporate departments.
• Ability to look beyond the task at hand, to anticipate challenges and develop options to overcome them.
• Subject matter expert knowledge of various process unit operations.
• Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays to support production operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of specific processes and projects.
• Project management may require purchasing of materials and supplies, equipment installation, budget tracking, employee training, and startup of projects.
• Project design, development, and management for operating department needs.
• Conduct optimization assessments to improve energy, chemicals, product yields, and reliability.
• Support capital projects including control strategy development, P&ID management, and process narratives for startup.
• Training and mentoring of colleagues, with potential of indirectly managing 10–30 hourly workers.
• Maintain a high degree of availability to a 24/7 operation.
