Job summary

Australian Community Media (ACM) Agri division is seeking a hands-on sub-editor to curate, edit, and produce print and digital content. You will balance print work three days a week with time on fast-paced digital projects two days a week, shaping stories that inform Australia’s rural communities.

You’ll work closely with editorial and publishing teams, manage social media and front pages, and liaise with freelancers and rural stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of newsroom experience with sub-editing, editing and prioritisation.
  • Experience with digital and social media content production and digital journalism.
  • A self-starter mindset with strong attention to detail, adaptability and high communication standards.
  • Empathy for rural and regional Australian communities.
  • Desirable: tertiary qualifications in journalism/communications and knowledge of the agricultural sector.

Responsibilities

  • Curate, edit, and copyfit print pages and special publications with strict deadlines.
  • Design front pages and graphics, champion ACM Agri style for error-free copy.
  • Repurpose print content for digital platforms, including Instagram and Facebook; assist with breaking national news.
  • Manage social media accounts and apps; use performance stats to drive digital plans.
  • Represent mastheads publicly and build relationships with freelancers, columnists and rural stakeholders.

About the Role

Joining our ACM Agri division, you will work closely with the editorial and publishing teams to curate, sub-edit, and produce engaging print and digital content. Due to digital expansion across our agricultural mastheads, this hands‑on role gives you the opportunity to shape stories that directly inform and connect Australia’s agricultural communities. You will balance print work (three days per week) with fast‑paced digital work (two days per week).

What You’ll Be Doing

What You’ll Bring
  • Essential: At least two years of newsroom experience with proven sub‑editing, editing, and prioritisation skills.
