Job summary

AECOM's Energy team seeks a Principal Power Systems Engineer to lead grid connection projects across Australia, focusing on NWPS and NWIS. You will drive power-system analyses, advise on renewables integration, and mentor engineers while delivering reliable designs.

You will work on diesel, gas, solar, wind, and storage across HV networks, developing models in tools like PSS/e, PSCAD and Digsilent PowerFactory, collaborating with clients to progress approvals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with major in power systems.
• Experience with grid-scale renewables (wind/solar/battery) and NEM/WEM integration.
• Expertise in transmission/distribution planning and connection processes for VRE and embedded generators.

Responsibilities

• Lead steady-state and dynamic studies for islanded and weak power systems.
• Develop methodologies to assess power systems for SAPS and NSP/region requirements.
• Prepare technical assessments for connections, network augmentations and decarbonisation projects.
• Develop, validate and maintain power-system models; produce auditable reports.
