Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Power Systems Engineer to join our Energy team in Australia. You will lead grid-connection studies for islanded networks and renewables projects, spanning NWPS and NWIS, helping clients connect new generation and loads while maintaining reliability.

The role covers modelling, technical advisory, and mentoring junior staff, with opportunities to advance thought leadership and engage with clients across the energy sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems focus.
• 5+ years (Senior) or 8+ years (Principal) in design/engineering consultancy, OEM, or utility.
• Experience with grid-scale renewables and NEM/WEM connections is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead steady-state and dynamic studies, including load flow, fault levels and contingency assessment.
• Develop methodologies to assess power systems for SAPS and NSP/regional requirements.
• Lead technical workstreams, mentor engineers, contribute to proposals and client relationships.
• Prepare technical design documentation and due diligence reports.
