Job summary
AECOM is seeking a Principal Power Systems Engineer to lead grid connection projects and provide technical advisory across renewable energy, mining and industrial sectors in Australia. You will work on islanded networks, harnessing renewables, storage and advanced control to ensure reliability and compliance.
You will join a team delivering complex grid studies, including wind, solar and battery integrations, across NWPS/NWIS regions, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers and influence
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with power-systems focus.
- 5+ years experience in design/engineering consultancy, OEM, or utility in grid compliance and modelling is preferred.
- Experience with grid-scale renewables connections to Australian networks is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Lead steady-state and dynamic studies for islanded/weak power systems.
- Develop methodologies for assessing power systems across various applications.
- Prepare technical assessments for connections, network augmentations and decarbonisation projects.
- Develop and maintain power-system models with auditable reports and recommendations.
- Engage with asset owners, system operators and regulators to progress approvals.
- Lead technical workstreams and contribute to proposals and client relationships.
