Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Principal Mining Engineer in Perth to lead advisory projects for top-tier mining clients. You’ll drive open pit and underground mine design, scheduling, and cost estimation, delivering value across commodities.

You’ll oversee the full project lifecycle, mentor multidisciplinary teams, and engage directly with clients to provide technically sound, commercially astute recommendations that align with safety and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
  • 15+ years experience in mining engineering across studies, operations, and/or consulting.
  • Proven capability in mine design, scheduling, optimisation, and technical review.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience working directly with clients on advisory and technical assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to turn insights into clear, meaningful recommendations.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams.

What you’ll do:

WSP Australia’s Mine Advisory group is expanding, and we’re looking for a highly experienced Principal Mining Engineer to join our team. This is an opportunity to work with top-tier mining clients, contribute to complex projects across commodities, and play a key role in helping our clients maximise value, optimise operations, and deliver sustainable outcomes.

Mine design for open pit and/or underground mines, scheduling, optimisation, equipment selection and operating and capital cost estimates.

About You
