Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Primary Engineer in Australia to lead high‑voltage primary and substation design across major projects. You will mentor engineers and guide teams from initiation to completion, applying TransGrid and Powerlink standards for 330 kV to 500 kV work.

You will shape technical standards, ensure quality and safety, and collaborate with clients and regulators to deliver reliable energy infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience leading design and delivery of primary and substation projects.
• Strong knowledge of high‑voltage equipment and protection/controls.
• Familiarity with Australian standards (AS/NZS) and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and review of primary system designs (layouts, equipment, earthing, busbar).
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Ensure design verification against AECOM standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams across project lifecycle.
• Support tendering, planning and cost estimation activities.
