Job summary

AMC Consultants invites applications for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical team at any Australian office. You will deliver high-quality geotechnical solutions across open pit and underground mining projects, leading technical teams and ensuring rigorous risk assessment and reporting.

You will contribute to client relationships and project delivery, with strong emphasis on technical leadership, mentoring, and quality outputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical or Mining Engineering required.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in open pit and/or underground mining.
• Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving and communication.

Position: Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Any Australian office

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical team in any of our office location in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth; you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and result.

To ensure technical delivery of projects, including risk and quality management. The candidate should have experience in the completion of advanced geotechnical analysis, development of technical documents (reports) for key clients throughout various project execution phases (pre-feasibility, feasibility, mine operations, site assessment, remediation, and decommissioning/closure). The candidate will demonstrate credible professional levels of work output, maintain, build, and further develop client relationships as part of project delivery and business development. The candidate should have experience in managing and executing geotechnical projects in diverse mining environments.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in open pit and/or underground mining with a strong technical and practical focus.
• Demonstrated capacity to work independently, coupled with strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Commitment to high ethical standards and professionalism, with values aligned to those of AMC.
• AusIMM CP status in geotechnical engineering would be highly regarded.
