Job summary

BHP Group is seeking a Principal Functional Safety & Control Systems Discipline Engineer in Perth, WA. You will provide technical leadership across WA Asset Projects, delivering safe, sustainable engineering outcomes in collaboration with project teams.

Role requires extensive experience in engineering design/assurance, with expertise in functional safety and industrial control systems, and a current CFSP or equivalent certification. Strong stakeholder engagement is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Control Systems, Electrical & Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
• Current Functional Safety certification (e.g., CFSP).
• Experience with Australian Standards AS 61508/AS 61511/AS/NZS 62061.

Responsibilities

• Provide functional safety and control systems expertise to support engineering outcomes.
• Lead design development, technical assurance and governance across WA Asset Projects.
• Review processes to ensure compliance with engineering standards and best practice.
• Collaborate with project teams to identify and mitigate health, safety, environmental and community risks.
