Job summary

LTM in Sydney, Australia, seeks an experienced Data Architect / Principal Data Engineer to act as the technical second-in-command to the Data Engineering Lead, owning delivery, architecture, stakeholder engagement and technical leadership.

You will guide enterprise-scale data platforms, partnerships with business and technical teams, and ensure governance, security, and quality across data initiatives, analytics, and reporting.

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect / Principal Data Engineering who can operate as the technical second-in-command to the Data Engineering Lead, owning delivery, architecture, stakeholder engagement, and technical leadership responsibilities, while people management remains with the existing leadership team.

• Lead end-to-end data initiatives from requirements gathering and solution design through to implementation, testing, and business validation.
• Coordinate and provide technical direction to a small team of data engineers.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities concurrently, removing blockers and accelerating delivery.
• Operate with a high degree of ownership, autonomy, and accountability.

2. Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Build strong relationships with both business and technical stakeholders.
• Facilitate workshops, gather requirements, manage expectations, and drive outcomes.
• Translate business needs into practical, scalable data solutions.
• Communicate effectively with technical teams, project managers, vendors, and senior stakeholders.
• Design and govern enterprise-scale data platforms, integrations, reporting, and analytics solutions.
• Provide architectural leadership and ensure solutions align with business, technical, security, and governance requirements.
• Lead architecture reviews, impact assessments, migration planning, and solution assurance activities.
• Experience with data warehousing, Lakehouse architectures, data modelling, integration patterns, and data governance.
