Job summary

Bayside City Council invites applications for a Community Infrastructure Planner to shape planning and investment in local community infrastructure. You will assess current and future needs, identify gaps and develop priorities with cross-department collaboration.

You will translate service demands into clear facility briefs, spatial requirements and planning priorities, reporting to the Urban Strategy team and supporting upgraded facilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in urban planning, social planning, community planning or related discipline.
• Experience in strategic planning and/or community infrastructure planning in local government or similar.
• Strong research and analytical skills to identify infrastructure needs, gaps and opportunities.
• Excellent collaboration and stakeholder engagement across council services.
• Ability to analyse current and future community demands and translate into recommendations for new/enhanced infrastructure.
• Strong written and verbal communication for reports and advice to managers.

Employment Status: Permanent / Full Time
Days & Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, totally 38 hours per week
Competitive Salary:Band 7 - $118,508.69 to $132,759.48 p.a.(depending on experience) + 12% superannuation
Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role:

We are seeking a Community Infrastructure Planner to help shape Council's planning and investment in community infrastructure.

In this role, you will assess current and future infrastructure needs, identify gaps and opportunities, and help develop priorities for future investment. Working closely with service areas across Council, you will bring together data and insights on service demands, community needs and operational requirements to develop practical, evidence-based infrastructure recommendations.

Reporting directly to the Manager Urban Strategy, you will provide strategic advice on infrastructure planning and contribute to the development of new and upgraded facilities by translating service and community needs into clear planning priorities, facility requirements and functional briefs.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

• Degree qualification in urban planning, social planning, community planning or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and/or community infrastructure planning within local government or a complex planning environment.
• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify infrastructure needs, gaps and opportunities.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across Council service areas to understand needs, test ideas and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations.
• Ability to identify and analyse current and future community infrastructure demands, service planning needs and facility provision models to identify recommendations for new and enhanced community infrastructure.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports and advice for managers and decision-makers.
• An understanding of facility planning and infrastructure development, including translating service requirements into facility scopes, spatial requirements, functional briefs and advice on emerging infrastructure proposals.

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

• Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
• Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.
• Be willing to undertake a premedical assessment check (if applicable for the role).
