Job summary

Firmus Technologies is seeking a Principal Kubernetes Engineer to own the backend infrastructure powering the Firmus Kubernetes platform. This hands-on senior IC role focuses on building production-grade cluster lifecycle, control-plane, networking, storage, security, observability, and automation across GPU-accelerated environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of infrastructure/platform engineering with production Kubernetes
• Experience designing multi-cluster Kubernetes on bare metal/private/hybrid
• Go software engineering plus Python/Bash scripting
• Expert Linux, networking, and security fundamentals
• Strong GitOps, CI/CD, and automation practices

Responsibilities

• Define and own the Kubernetes platform reference architecture across management and workload clusters
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, controllers, operators for provisioning and upgrading clusters
• Engineer bare-metal Kubernetes deployment workflows using infrastructure-as-code and provisioning tools
• Design and operate cluster networking including CNI, DNS, load balancing and service mesh
• Define storage patterns using CSI, Ceph, local NVMe, and disaster recovery
• Integrate NVIDIA GPU Operators, device plugins, and topology-aware scheduling
• Establish GitOps and CI/CD patterns for platform software and release management
• Build security into architecture with IAM, RBAC, secrets, and supply-chain controls
• Define SLOs, observability with Prometheus/Grafana/OpenTelemetry, and diagnose complex failures
• Set engineering standards and mentor senior engineers while contributing to implementation
