Job summary

Yagoona Family HealthCare in Sydney, NSW is seeking a caring Practice Nurse to join our busy general practice. You will work with General Practitioners and admin staff to deliver high-quality nursing care, support preventative health services and keep the clinic running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has strong clinical and communication skills, patient-centred approach, and experience with immunisations, wound care and health assessments. 2-3 days per week, 8:30–4:30, hours are flexible.

Job description

We are seeking a caring, motivated and reliable Practice Nurse to join our busy general practice in Yagoona. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with our General Practitioners and administrative team to provide high-quality nursing care, support preventative health services and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the medical centre.

The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities and a patient-centred approach to healthcare

Perform immunisations and vaccinations in accordance with current guidelines and practice protocols.

Conduct wound care, dressing changes and basic wound assessments.

Perform health assessments and assist with chronic disease management plans.

Provide preventative health services, including health promotion and patient education.

Assist with procedures performed by General Practitioners.

Perform ECGs, spirometry, blood collection and other clinical procedures where trained and competent.

Administer medications and injections as authorised and in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.

Monitor and maintain emergency equipment and clinical supplies.

Assist with infection prevention and control, sterilisation and maintaining a clean, safe clinical environment.

Support cervical screening and other screening programs within the nurse’s scope of practice and training.

Provide patient education regarding immunisations, wound care, health screening and preventative healthcare.

Assist with iron infusions and other treatments only where appropriately trained, authorised and supported by practice protocols.

Experience in medical practice is essential. We are looking for a nurse to be here for 2-3 days, our clinic hours are 8:30-4:30. Hours are flexibile.
