Located in the heart of the Hunter Valley, Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation - GP Services is an Aboriginal community-controlled health service, which aims to deliver culturally appropriate primary health care services, advocacy and social and emotional support to Aboriginal people and their families in our community.
Ungooroo is looking for a part-time Practice Nurse to provide supportive clinical care as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team, focused on improving health outcomes for the local Aboriginal community and others who use the service.
Days/Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:30am-5pm (30 min lunch breaks).
The Practice Nurse will work closely with Ungooroo general practitioners in providing primary health care and support services.

ABOUT THE ROLE
General health screening and assessment
First aid assistance with emergency procedures
Work with the clinic GPs to provide assessments and support the preparation of health management and care plans.
Coordinate clients within the multidisciplinary health team and feedback between the services, patients and GP.
Diagnostic procedures (eg ECG) and assistance with minor procedures and wound care.
Maintenance of client clinical records and compliance with all statutory obligations.
Work with the clinic GP’s/ Practice Nurse and GP/Nursing Students
Coordinate clients within the multidisciplinary health team and feedback between the services, patients and GP.

ABOUT YOU
Current registration as a Registered Nurse, AHPRA Registered Nurse
Understanding of current health issues relevant to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities particularly with chronic disease.
Experience using Best Practice software (desirable)
Effective organisational and time management skills
Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with all relevant legislation and legal obligations related to nursing and patient care.
Demonstrate patient-focused approach in service provision with genuine empathy and interest in patient needs.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills across all ages and social groups.
Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding patient and practice information.
Experience in similar role as practice nurse highly desirable
The successful candidate must be willing to provide a clear criminal record check and current paid working with children check prior to appointment.
