Job summary

CHU Underwriting Agencies in Australia is seeking a Portfolio Manager to drive data‑driven pricing and risk-based decision making within our high‑growth underwriting operation.

You will analyse new business, retention, and market share, shaping pricing, cover and product strategies while leading automation initiatives and collaborating with underwriting, sales and marketing to optimise portfolio performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in General Insurance across underwriting, portfolio management, pricing, actuarial or product.
• Strong analytical skills with experience using Excel, SQL, Power BI and/or Tableau.
• Proven success developing pricing strategies that balance growth and profitability.
• Experience with automated underwriting, rules engines or digital underwriting platforms.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to turn data insights into business
• Familiarity with strata / property insurance lines

Responsibilities

• Drive portfolio growth through analysis of new business, retention and market share.
• Develop and optimise pricing, cover and product strategies.
• Lead underwriting automation initiatives with rules engines.
• Explore data sources to enhance risk selection and underwriting efficiency.
• Collaborate with underwriting, sales and marketing to improve portfolio performance.
• Define requirements for underwriting tools, dashboards and reporting with KPIs.
