Job summary

YMCA Victoria is seeking Lifeguards for the Nathalia Outdoor Pool to provide a safe swimming environment and engage with pool users. This casual position requires vigilance, good communication, and a customer-focused approach in a busy aquatic setting.

Ideal candidates hold an Aquatic Pool Lifeguard Certificate (or willingness to obtain), CPR and First Aid, and can stay calm under pressure. The role offers an hourly rate up to $34.96 plus Super and flexible rostering.

Qualifications

• Aquatic Pool Lifeguard Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Supervising a large aquatic space while pro-actively ensuring a safe environment in and around the pool area
• Maintaining concentrated observation of pools and patrons to anticipate and respond to problems
• Ensuring facility rules are being obeyed whilst educating users about safe aquatic practices
• Carrying out intervention and preventative action to ensure safety and wellbeing of patrons, the facility and equipment

About the Centre

You will find something for everybody with a 50 metre lap pool and toddlers pool available. Our facilities include a kiosk and shaded seating areas for families to enjoy and make a day out!.

About the Role

As a Lifeguard at the Nathalia Outdoor Pool, you’ll help provide a safe swimming environment for all centre visitors. You’ll be patient, focused and friendly to keep pool-users informed and safe. Duties of the role include:

• Supervising a large aquatic space while pro-actively ensuring a safe environment in and around the pool area
• Maintaining concentrated observation of pools and patrons to anticipate and respond to problems
• Ensuring facility rules are being obeyed whilst at the same time educating facility users about safe aquatic practices
• Carrying out intervention and preventative action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, the facility and equipment

About You

We are seeking motivated, organised and pro-active Lifeguards to come and join the team. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and all facility users. Other required qualities are:

• Ability to make decisions while under pressure
• Being able to manage conflicts with patrons and users
• Ability to stay alert and vigilant in a repetitive work environment
• Ability to multitask
• Providing excellent customer service for all members and guests
• Experience in the Aquatics and Leisure industry will be highly regarded

Essential Qualifications
