Job summary

Jesuit Social Services in Melbourne is seeking a General Manager, Policy and Government Engagement to lead government relations and policy influence across Victorian, Commonwealth, and other Australian jurisdictions. You will unite diverse teams to present a single, evidence-based voice to decision-makers.

You will build trusted relationships with ministers and senior officials, coordinate practice insights with research and lived experience, and lead a small policy team.

Qualifications

• A track record of achieving social change through policy and advocacy.
• Credibility with decision makers across political spectra.
• Strong writing and briefing skills for senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Shape and lead a government engagement strategy across Commonwealth and state/territory governments.
• Build direct, trusted relationships with Ministers, advisers and senior officials.
• Coordinate internal relationships to speak with one clear voice to Government.
• Lead submissions, policy positions and briefings that combine evidence and lived experience.
• Create opportunities for people with lived experience to engage directly with decision makers.
• Track and report policy influence and impact back into practice and workforce development.
• Lead and develop a small policy and advocacy team.
