Job summary

Sloane Plumbing Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our growing team and take ownership of the estimating function across commercial plumbing and hydraulic projects in Australia.

You will manage the tender process from review to submission, develop take-offs, supplier quotes and pricing strategies, and work with the MD and leadership to drive value engineering and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating commercial plumbing and hydraulic projects.
• Ability to interpret architectural, hydraulic and services documentation.
• Strong knowledge of labour productivity, materials costs and construction sequencing.
• Experience managing supplier and subcontractor pricing.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess tender opportunities and prepare detailed take-offs.
• Prepare accurate project estimates and tender submissions.
• Review drawings and contractual documentation for scope gaps and risks.
• Develop labour, material and plant cost estimates and pricing strategies.
• Issue RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors and manage clarifications.
• Work with MD to develop tender strategy and provide handovers to delivery teams.
• Analyse tender outcomes and contribute to pricing process improvements.

The Role

This is a key position within the business and will suit an experienced plumbing/hydraulic estimator who wants to play a significant role in the growth of a fast-moving construction company pricing in different markets Australia wide.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for managing the estimating process from initial tender review through to final submission and project handover.

You will work across a diverse range of commercial construction and high-end residential projects.

• Review and assess incoming tender opportunities.

• Complete detailed hydraulic/plumbing take-offs and quantity measurements.

• Prepare accurate and competitive project estimates and tender submissions.

• Review drawings, specifications, scope of works and contractual documentation.

• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks and commercial opportunities.

• Prepare and issue supplier and subcontractor RFQs.

• Develop labour, material and plant cost estimates.

• Work closely with the Managing Director to develop tender strategy and final pricing.

• Prepare tender clarifications, qualifications and exclusions.

• Participate in value engineering and alternative design/pricing solutions.

• Maintain and continuously improve estimating systems, templates and pricing databases.

• Assist with post-tender negotiations and tender clarifications.

• Provide comprehensive tender handovers to the delivery team.

• Analyse tender outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement of pricing and estimating processes.

About You

We are looking for someone with strong experience estimating commercial plumbing and hydraulic projects.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Plumbing, Hydraulic Services Estimator.

• Strong experience pricing commercial construction projects.

• The ability to independently interpret architectural, hydraulic and services documentation.

• Excellent knowledge of commercial plumbing systems and installation methodologies.

• Strong understanding of labour productivity, material costs and construction sequencing.

• Experience managing supplier and subcontractor pricing.

• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.

• The ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work to tight deadlines.

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

• Strong Excel and estimating software capability.

A trade background in plumbing or hydraulics will be highly regarded.
