Job summary

The Plumbing Coordinator at University of New England (AU) oversees the development, planning, implementation and upkeep of plumbing infrastructure across UNE buildings. You will coordinate and supervise the plumbing team, external providers and in-house resources to ensure safe, compliant operations.

Key duties include developing maintenance schedules, managing contractor performance, and maintaining accurate records to support asset management.

Qualifications

• Current Plumbing Certificate (Certificate III in Plumbing) or equivalent, with a current plumbing licence.
• Experience coordinating and supervising trade teams, including work scheduling and mentoring staff.
• Proven ability to coordinate preventative and reactive maintenance programs and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement with internal teams, managers and contractors.
• Experience using computerised maintenance management systems (e.g. Archibus) and standard office software; maintain records.

About the role

The Plumbing Supervisor is a key trade position within the University’s Estate Built Environment Directorate. The position coordinates the development, planning, implementation and maintenance of plumbing infrastructure in University buildings. The position provides a high level of technical support and expertise in installing, maintaining and ensuring safe operation of installations in accordance with safety and legislative requirements. This is to be achieved by the coordinating and supervision of the plumbing team, contracted providers and management of inhouse resources. The position reports to the Trade Manager Operations and operates under their general direction

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Current Plumbing Certificate (Certificate III in Plumbing) or equivalent, with a current plumbing licence; extensive experience and specialist knowledge in plumbing services.
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating and supervising trade teams, including work scheduling, resource allocation, mentoring staff and managing competing priorities in a maintenance environment
• Proven ability to coordinate preventative and reactive maintenance programs including developing maintenance schedules, managing contractor performance, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
• Well-developed communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, management, contractors and stakeholders
• Demonstrated proficiency in using computerise maintenance management systems (e.g. Archibus) and standard office software (e.g.MS Office), with the ability to maintain accurate records and contribute to asset management documentation.
• A demonstrated ability to champion and embody organisational values in complex environments, ensuring that all professional conduct and strategic contributions are visibly aligned with the ethics and standards of the University
• Demonstrate readiness to use AI and digital technology in the workplace

About the Department

The Estate and Built Environment (EBE) group is responsible for buildings/infrastructure, grounds and facility services across the UNE properties and is part of the Chief Operating Officer Portfolio. EBE consists of the units of Finance and Administration, Operational Services, Capital Development and Strategic Development.
