Job summary

University of New England in Armidale seeks an Engineering Services Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for electrical, mechanical, fire safety and emergency services. You will drive service delivery, compliance and continuous improvement across these disciplines, aligning with UNE’s strategic plan and regulatory requirements.

The role reports to the Associate Director Facilities and Operational Services and offers a full-time, on-campus position with the benefits of salary

Qualifications

• Must have tertiary qualifications or extensive management experience in electrical services, fire compliance or facilities management.
• Experience in fire compliance management, including statutory requirements, Australian Standards and EFSM.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical and fire services in a facilities environment.

Engineering Services Manager

Estate Built Environment – Operational Services

• Continuing, full-time
• Armidale based role.
• $ 135,213 to $ 144,591 per annum (insert Level) + 17% super
• Salary packaging options available

About the role

The Engineering Services Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the University’s electrical, mechanical, fire safety and emergency services functions. This role is responsible for the management of service delivery, compliance, and continuous improvement across these disciplines, including ownership of associated data, digital systems and asset management platforms. The position ensures engineering services are delivered safely, efficiently and in alignment with the UNE Strategic Plan and regulatory requirements. The position reports to the Associate Director Facilities and Operational Services and operates under their broad direction.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive relevant experience; or extensive management experience and substantial technical expertise in electrical services, fire compliance or facilities management; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.Demonstrated knowledge and experience in fire compliance management, including statutory requirements, Australian Standards, and Essential Fire Safety Measures (EFSM).
• Demonstrated ability to conceptualise and develop strategic asset and maintenance plans, as well as experience in the management of mechanical, electrical and fire services delivery, and maintenance in a building / facilities environment. Demonstrated ability to manage capital and operational tender processes and contracts across mechanical, electrical and fire services in line with strategic objectives.
• Experience in successfully leading and managing multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical and fire/emergency services in a changing business environment, including experience in change management.
• High level analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on continuous improvement, best practice, efficiency and effectiveness.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to build solid working relationships at all levels.

About the Department

The Estate and Built Environment (EBE) Directorate is responsible for the management of buildings, infrastructure, grounds and facility services across UNE properties and is part of the Chief Operating Officer's Portfolio. EBE consists of the units of Operational Services, Project Delivery and Asset Services.
