The role of the Course Advising Access and Triage Coordinator is to facilitate an environment that empowers students to navigate the university and its support network, and to collaborate with students on the shared goal of graduation. This role contributes to the delivery of a student advising practice intended to address both proscriptive informational needs and the development of attributes associated with self-efficacy and a robust student identity. The Course Advising Access and Triage Coordinator engages with both students and colleagues by applying the trauma-informed principles of safety, trust, collaboration, choice and empowerment.

The Course Advising Access and Triage Coordinator exercises independent professional judgement to deliver non-academic support, assess student circumstances, identify urgency, and determine appropriate pathways across CAPS (Counselling and Psychological Services), SAWO (Student Accessibility and Wellbeing Office), Course Advising, and other relevant services. The role is particularly focused on supporting students from low SES backgrounds, other equity cohorts, and students with significant challenges to completion, any of whom may present with complex, intersecting non-academic challenges. This role is part of UNE Course Advising, reports to the Student Engagement Advisor and works in close collaboration with the broader CAPS, SAWO, and AskUNE teams.

The Student Journey portfolio is responsible for all aspects of the student experience at UNE to ensure quality of provision from enrolment to graduation. Through institutional collaboration the Division supports the University's strategy; in ensuring all UNE students and UNE graduates have an experience which supports and enables their academic success and future life course progress.
