Buckenara Plumbing, Gas & Electrical is seeking a technically strong and commercially driven Plumbing Business Development Manager to actively create new project and maintenance opportunities across existing commercial, strata, body corporate and facilities-management relationships. This is not a traditional desk-based sales role. We are looking for someone with genuine plumbing knowledge who can get onto existing sites, build relationships with site contacts and decision-makers, inspect ageing or problematic infrastructure, identify complex plumbing issues and turn those issues into properly scoped project opportunities. The role will also be responsible for using existing opportunities as the entry point to secure ongoing reactive plumbing work and routine preventative maintenance across client portfolios.
Proactively visit and develop existing client sites where Buckenara already has a relationship or a foot in the door
Build strong relationships with strata managers, body corporates, facility managers, building managers, property managers and key commercial decision-makers
Identify ageing, failing, non-compliant or inefficient plumbing infrastructure and create genuine project opportunities. Often coming from day today works in the field
Develop clear preliminary scopes, site information, photos and technical recommendations for handover to estimating and operations team
Work closely with estimating, projects and commercial maintenance teams to convert identified opportunities into quotations, purchase orders and completed works
Follow up quotations with urgency and maintain ownership of opportunities through the sales pipeline.
Convert project relationships into ongoing reactive plumbing and scheduled routine-maintenance agreements
Identify opportunities across wider client portfolios rather than treating each site as a one-off job
Maintain accurate CRM/pipeline reporting covering opportunities, estimated values, quotation status, conversion and expected award dates
Build and maintain a forward pipeline of profitable plumbing projects and recurring maintenance revenue
Strong commercial plumbing knowledge - ideally a qualified plumber, plumbing supervisor, estimator, project manager or technically experienced plumbing professional.
The ability to walk through a commercial or strata property and recognise problems, risks and future capital-works opportunities. We are after someone who can identify issues to complex problems and quickly articulate that into reports and estimates. This is the key KPI we will track performance on. How many clients have you secured for reactive and routine maintenance and how many complex projects have you won.
Strong knowledge of commercial hydraulic services, drainage, water services and hot-water systems
A practical understanding of Australian plumbing requirements and relevant standards
Commercially minded, confident and comfortable discussing technical issues with clients and turning them into solutions
Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the confidence to deal with strata councils, building managers, facility managers and senior client representatives
Highly proactive and self-driven - this role requires someone who creates opportunities rather than waits for enquiries
Strong follow-up discipline and the ability to manage multiple opportunities through a structured sales pipeline
Ability to prepare clear site notes and preliminary scopes and work collaboratively with estimators and delivery teams

$90,000 base salary plus superannuation
Heavily weighted quarterly performance-bonus structure tied to agreed KPIs including project opportunities, converted revenue, gross profit, recurring maintenance growth and overall pipeline performance
Established commercial client relationships and existing sites to develop from day one
A strong operational, estimating and project-delivery team behind you
The opportunity to create substantial plumbing projects rather than simply sell small reactive jobs
A clear pathway to build recurring commercial maintenance revenue from the relationships you develop
Autonomy to own your pipeline and directly influence the growth of the business
Quarterly performance incentives with significant upside for a high performer
