Job summary

Viva Energy is seeking a Platform Technical Lead – IT Infrastructure to own and continuously improve our large, enterprise-grade infrastructure across data centres, cloud and remote sites. You will lead a 10+ engineering team and collaborate with architects, security specialists and business stakeholders.

This role requires deep hands-on technical expertise, strong leadership and a proven track record delivering secure, scalable platforms in a multi-site environment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years' experience in IT Infrastructure.
• 5+ years' experience in leadership roles within a large enterprise environment.
• Experience managing complex server and hosting environments, datacentres and multi-site infrastructure.
• Extensive expertise across Windows and/or Linux systems administration and engineering.
• Strong experience with VMware virtualization technologies.
• Experience with enterprise compute and storage technologies including Dell, Lenovo, Cisco, Dell EMC and NetApp.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience across Azure and/or AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Architecting, designing, building and operating both on-premises and cloud-based enterprise infrastructure.
• Experience across server, storage and networking administration, configuration management, monitoring and alerting, backup and recovery, and patching.
• Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop and remote desktop technologies.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation and containerisation technologies.
• PowerShell and SQL scripting experience.
• Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD technologies.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, infrastructure security protocols and security best practices.
• Experience managing complex infrastructure incidents and providing Level 3 technical support and escalation.
• Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring technical engineers and managing blended teams of employees, contractors and technology partners.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capability with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
• Experience contributing to technology roadmaps, budgets, infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead secure, scalable, resilient infrastructure designs across datacentres, remote sites, edge compute and cloud platforms.
• Provide technical leadership across Windows and Linux, VMware, enterprise compute, storage and hosting technologies.
• Lead infrastructure implementations, upgrades and deployments, including configuration, troubleshooting, testing and proof-of-concept environments.
• Oversee the availability, reliability and performance of infrastructure supporting a large-scale, 24/7 operating environment.
• Lead and develop a team of 10+ technical engineers, providing technical direction while fostering collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to automate repeatable activities, improve operational efficiency, optimise costs and simplify the infrastructure environment.
• Ensure infrastructure platforms meet security, patching, vulnerability remediation, compliance and governance requirements.
• Provide senior technical leadership during complex infrastructure incidents and Level 3 escalations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Contribute to Viva Energy Group’s infrastructure roadmap across server and hosting, datacentres, edge compute, cloud, automated deployment, resilience, scalability and cost optimisation.
• Identify and mitigate infrastructure risks and contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Build strong relationships with technology vendors, service providers, architects, application teams, security specialists and business stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and identify opportunities to modernise and continuously improve Viva Energy Group’s infrastructure environment.
