Job summary

Westbury Partners is seeking a Software Development Platform Engineer to join a high-performing team in Sydney. You will build scalable tooling, improve build systems, and accelerate engineering workflows to empower hundreds of developers.

You’ll work across Python, Java, and C++ stacks, optimise compile times, and contribute to CI/CD and containerised environments. This role focuses on infrastructure, automation, and delivering robust engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience using Python, Java, and/or C++.
• Experience with Bazel or another monorepo-oriented build system.
• Strong understanding of reliable build environments and rapid developer feedback cycles.
• Experience designing or implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, TeamCity, or GoCD.
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• An interest in developer productivity, build systems, automation, and engineering infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a pragmatic approach to technical challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and implement improvements across software development workflows, from incremental optimisations to major architectural changes.
• Build and scale development tooling and build infrastructure to support growing engineering teams.
• Optimise compile times and improve developer feedback cycles.
• Enhance code quality, maintainability, and engineering best practices.
• Design and develop infrastructure for development, build, testing, and release processes.
• Troubleshoot build infrastructure issues and implement reliable, long‑term solutions.
• Work with technologies including Python, C++, Java, Bazel, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD platforms.
• Partner closely with development and engineering teams to understand their evolving needs.
• Encourage adoption of effective development practices that improve productivity and software quality.
• Help modernise and simplify complex development environments across a global engineering organisation.
