Job summary

FGI Developments is seeking Cairns-based Plant & Machinery Operators to support civil, bulk earthworks and road projects. This non-FIFO role requires experienced operators with current tickets, a White Card, and the ability to travel to remote sites as needed.

You'll work closely with site supervisors, perform pre-start checks, and ensure safety and environmental standards are maintained on busy construction sites in the Cairns region.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Civil Plant Operator in the construction industry.
• Current Construction White Card is required.
• Hold relevant tickets/certificates (e.g., Excavator, Loader, Roller).
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and environmental best practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate plant and machinery including excavators, loaders, rollers, graders, and other equipment.

About the Role

Due to continued project growth, we are seeking experienced and reliable Cairns based Plant & Machinery Operators to join our team. Note this is not a FIFO role.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate plant and machinery including excavators, loaders, rollers, graders, and other equipment
• Perform daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance
• Work alongside site supervisors and team members to meet project timelines
• Maintain a strong focus on safety and compliance.
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Civil Plant Operator in the construction industry
• Hold a current driver's license and relevant tickets/certificates
• Strong understanding of construction methods, safety procedures and environmental best practices
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
• Be able to travel to remote sites when needed
• Understanding of GPS and UTS

About You

• Proven experience as a Plant or Machinery Operator in civil construction
• Relevant tickets and licences (e.g. Excavator, Loader, Roller, etc.)
• Current Construction White Card
• Strong understanding of site safety standards and procedures
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude
• HR licence (desirable but not essential)
