Job summary

Western Downs Regional Council is seeking a Plant Operator to support Civil Construction and maintenance activities within the Fleet & Resources Department. You will operate the Council's plant fleet, perform varied tasks, and maintain equipment to a high standard.

The role requires proven plant operator experience, a valid HR or higher license (or willingness to obtain), and essential White Card. Benefits include competitive salary, superannuation, and growth opportunities.

Job description

The Opportunity

The Plant Operator is responsible for undertaking maintenance and construction duties through the skilled operation of Council's plant fleet, within the Fleet & Resources Department. This role encompasses a range of duties and responsibilities which may vary as directed by Council. The key ones include:

• Providing a high standard of operating skills on civil construction and maintaining plant and other equipment;
• Communicating effectively to ensure an understanding in maintaining assigned equipment;
• Completing allocated tasks consistently within agreed time frames; and
• Being aware and adhere safe work practices to ensure all risks are minimised.

About Yourself

A person in this position will need to have knowledge and experience in various aspects of Civil Construction and Maintenance works, OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience. It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have:

• Proven plant operator experience in various types of plant and equipment.
• Heavy Rigid (HR) Drivers Licence or higher or willingness to obtain on commencement.
• Works Health and Safety General Construction Induction, White Card (essential).
• MUTCD, Level 1 and/or 2 (desirable).
• Tickets to operate other heavy machinery and preferable.
