Job summary

Finisar in Sydney seeks a Planning Manager responsible for materials planning to meet demand for manufacturing and NPI operations. You will manage the Sydney purchasing team, own procedures, and communicate demand to IPO via Oracle systems while monitoring supplier performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Drive a culture of quality throughout the team.
• Ensure staff are allocated to tasks appropriate to their skills.
• Perform audits of systems and processes to continually review adherence to processes.
• Set, maintain and monitor KPI metrics for effective purchasing control.
• Provide effective proactive liaison with other departments to forecast, plan and meet supply demand.
• Train and develop the team to improve skill levels.
• Ensure OH&S compliance with company and legal requirements.

Job description

The Planning Manager has overall responsibility for the planning of materials to meet the demand of Sydney's manufacturing and NPI operations; ensuring capacity is not constrained by material shortages due to planning or execution processes. The role involves effective management of the Sydney purchasing team, ownership of operating procedures and their compliance, using the Oracle Advanced Planning System (APS) to plan for materials demand, and effective communication of demand for materials to the International Purchasing Office (IPO) through Oracle IR and PR systems as well as forecasts and managing demand changes. The Planning Manager monitors supplier commitment and actual deliveries to meet demand to ensure the purchasing process is functioning and provides supplier performance metrics.

Required Skills & Experience

• Good command of spoken and written English with the ability to deliver clear and succinct communication for commercial and technical issues
• In depth experience of material supply planning using ERP systems in manufacturing environments
• Experienced in purchasing management within an organisation manufacturing high tech products
• Experienced in supplier management in an international environment
• Analytical, problem solving, team building, strategic planning and change management skills
• Knowledge of electronics manufacturing techniques, components and suppliers
• Experienced in selecting and auditing of suppliers
• Highly capable in use of Excel to analyse data, present results and communicate
• Capable in Power Point to present plans, report issues and communicate to suppliers
• Ability to interact with upper management and with the production team at all levels
