Job summary

Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a Registered Nurse – Theatre to join a dedicated team and support high-quality perioperative care. You will contribute across a range of surgical specialties, working with a collaborative multidisciplinary team in a supportive environment.

The role emphasizes aseptic technique, patient safety, and ongoing professional development, with comprehensive orientation and mentorship from senior perioperative clinicians.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Demonstrated perioperative experience in Instrument/Circulating roles.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based perioperative nursing care across the operating theatre environment.
• Work in Instrument/Circulating roles across surgical specialties.
• Prepare and maintain a sterile operating theatre environment.
• Assist surgeons, anaesthetists and perioperative team during procedures.
• Monitor patients during perioperative phase and respond to changes in condition.
• Ensure accurate clinical documentation and infection control adherence.
• Participate in quality improvement and professional development.
• Mentor junior staff and students where appropriate.
