Job summary

Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking casual staff to join the Operating Theatre Team at Cessnock District Hospital. This role provides vital support to ensure safe, efficient patient care within perioperative services.

The position requires the ability to work morning and afternoon shifts, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, with a commitment to safe, person-centred care and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• High level written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn intraoperative theatre duties.
• Ability to work morning and afternoon shifts Monday - Friday.
• Work under supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Move, transfer, and position patients safely between theatre, recovery, day stay and wards.
• Clean, prepare, and maintain operating rooms between procedures.
• Assemble and check equipment for cleanliness and function; report faults.
• Transport specimens, restock supplies, and assist nursing or medical staff during lists.
