Job summary

DWS is seeking a highly skilled Performance Tester to deliver performance testing outcomes within banking, financial services, wealth management, or similar regulated environments.

This role will help ensure performance, scalability, reliability, and resilience of enterprise platforms while supporting rapid delivery in a high-frequency release environment and maintaining excellent customer experiences. 12-month max term, Sydney hybrid, ASAP start.

Qualifications

• Must have extensive experience in performance testing within banking/FS/wealth management sectors.
• Ability to design, develop, run, and maintain performance testing strategies and frameworks.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and automated testing.
• Experience identifying bottlenecks across API, web, mobile, databases, and backend systems.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead performance testing across APIs, web, mobile, and cloud platforms.
• Create and maintain performance test scripts using k6, JMeter, or similar tools.
• Integrate performance tests within CI/CD pipelines for automated quality gates.
• Analyze results, identify bottlenecks, and provide actionable recommendations to teams.
• Collaborate with architects and engineering to translate architectures into performance tests.

DWS is seeking a highly skilled Performance Tester with demonstrated experience delivering performance testing outcomes within banking, financial services, wealth management, superannuation, or similarly regulated environments. This role will play a key part in ensuring the performance, scalability, reliability, and resilience of critical enterprise platforms, supporting rapid delivery within a high-frequency release environment while maintaining exceptional customer experiences.

Role Requirements

• Banking, financial services, wealth management, or superannuation experience is essential.
• Strong understanding of risk, compliance, security, and operational requirements associated with enterprise financial services platforms.
• Strong experience in performance testing and performance engineering.
• Hands-on experience with k6 (preferred), JMeter, or equivalent performance testing tools.
• Design, develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive performance testing strategies and frameworks.
• Create and maintain performance test scripts using k6, JMeter, or other industry-standard performance testing tools.
• Conduct load, stress, endurance, scalability, and volume testing across distributed applications and services.
• Analyse performance test results, identify bottlenecks, and provide actionable recommendations to development and engineering teams.
• Perform performance testing across:
  • Web applications
  • Mobile applications
  • APIs and microservices
  • Databases
  • Backend systems and integrations
• Collaborate with Solution Architects and Engineering teams to translate solution architectures into performance testing and DevOps testing components.
• Integrate performance testing within CI/CD pipelines to support automated quality gates and continuous performance validation.
• Partner with stakeholders to define performance requirements, service level objectives, and capacity planning strategies.
• Support on-demand testing requirements within a fast-paced, high-frequency release environment.
• Review and assess performance testing approaches implemented by other testing teams to ensure consistency, quality standards, and best practice alignment.
• Provide performance engineering expertise throughout project planning, solution design, development, and release cycles.
• Produce clear and comprehensive performance test reports, findings, and recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of modern DevOps practices and automated testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of application architecture, system integration patterns, and cloud-native environments.
• Experience identifying bottlenecks across application, API, infrastructure, and database layers.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong planning, estimation, and prioritisation skills.
• Experience operating within Agile and DevOps environments.
• Experience supporting organisations with frequent production deployments and rapid release cycles.
• Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Grafana, Splunk, or similar platforms
