You will be working within a major financial services environment, supporting the quality and performance of business-critical card payment and financial transaction systems.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Card Payments Test Analyst with strong knowledge of the card payments domain and payment transaction lifecycle.

The successful candidate will be responsible for testing applications that process card payments and financial transactions, including validating financial messages, APIs, database records, and end-to-end transaction flows.

In addition to functional testing, the position requires experience executing performance tests, analysing results, identifying system bottlenecks, and producing clear performance testing reports and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and execute testing across card payment and financial transaction systems
• Validate end-to-end payment transaction flows across integrated applications
• Interpret and validate financial messages throughout the transaction lifecycle
• Confirm that financial transactions are processed accurately across applications and downstream systems
• Test APIs and integrations within distributed system environments
• Perform SQL queries and database validations to confirm transaction accuracy and data integrity
• Develop and maintain functional, integration, system, regression, and performance test scenarios
• Execute performance tests using LoadRunner or equivalent performance testing tools
• Monitor test execution and analyse performance results, response times, throughput, and system behaviour
• Identify performance trends, constraints, bottlenecks, and potential system issues
• Prepare performance test reports documenting results, observations, risks, and recommendations
• Record, manage, and retest defects through to resolution
• Work closely with developers, business analysts, product teams, and other technical stakeholders
• Contribute to test planning, test estimation, risk management, and quality assurance activities
• Ensure testing aligns with project requirements, quality standards, and delivery timelines

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong understanding of the card payments domain
• Good knowledge of the payment transaction lifecycle
• Experience testing applications involving payment processing or financial transaction systems
• Strong understanding of financial transactions and transaction processing
• Ability to interpret and validate financial message structures
• Experience validating message content, transaction status, and end-to-end processing outcomes
• Hands-on experience testing APIs and distributed systems
• Strong SQL skills and experience performing database and backend validations
• Experience developing and executing detailed test cases and test scenarios
• Understanding of integration, system, regression, and end-to-end testing
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to investigate defects across multiple applications and integrated systems
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary delivery teams

Performance Testing Experience

• Good understanding of performance testing concepts, methodologies, and testing approaches
• Experience executing performance tests using LoadRunner or an equivalent tool
• Ability to analyse performance test results and identify trends, bottlenecks, constraints, and system issues
• Experience reviewing system performance against expected response times and transaction volumes
• Ability to clearly document performance test results, findings, and observations
• Experience preparing professional performance testing reports
• Ability to provide practical recommendations based on performance testing outcomes
