Job summary

Pure Source Recruitment in Brisbane, Australia is seeking a Payroll Officer to join a values-driven not-for-profit payroll team on a permanent, full-time basis. You will process payroll while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely updates to employee records.

Reporting to the Senior Payroll Officer, you will build technical capability across payroll systems, respond to enquiries, investigate discrepancies and contribute to process improvements in a complex community services environment.

Qualifications

• Experience processing payroll in a not-for-profit or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of payroll compliance and timely processing.
• Ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve payroll queries.
• Proficient with payroll software and Excel for data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll transactions accurately within timeframes while maintaining records.
• Maintain employee records across payroll and rostering systems.
• Update pay rates, entitlements, taxation and superannuation in the system.
• Review timesheets and leave documentation for discrepancies.
• Respond to payroll enquiries from staff and managers and resolve issues.
• Assist with payroll reporting and compliance requirements (PAYG, super, end-of-month).
• Support fringe benefits tax and salary packaging matters with external providers.
• Interpret payroll legislation and organisational policies in practice.
• Contribute to payroll system updates and process improvements.
• Maintain confidential records and manage competing deadlines.
