West Perth | 12-Month Contract | ASAP Start | $94.000 + Super | One day work from home.

An exciting opportunity has become available with a globally recognised Tier 1 mining company in West Perth.

Working within Finance Systems and Operations, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the organisation's fortnightly payroll using SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP).

This is more than a traditional payroll processing role. You will be involved in first-pass payroll checks, reconciliations, reporting and system testing, while also having the opportunity to identify and contribute to improvements in payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process end-to-end fortnightly payroll in SAP ECP, including pay smoothing, salary sacrifice and standard termination payments.

  • Set up new employees, including TFNs, tax declarations and superannuation.

  • Prepare fortnightly EFT requisitions and submit for approval.

  • Prepare payroll variance reports and complete first-pass reviews against previous pay runs.

  • Reconcile net pay to bank files.

  • Support STP, superannuation and payroll tax reconciliations.

  • Respond to payroll queries from employees and leaders within agreed service timeframes.

  • Liaise with the People Support Centre regarding appointments, terminations and payroll changes.

  • Participate in user acceptance testing for payroll system changes.

  • Maintain and update payroll procedures.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline, simplify or automate payroll processes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience processing payroll within a complex employment environment, including allowances, deductions, rosters and bonuses.

  • Experience managing high-volume, high-transaction payrolls.

  • Experience with SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) or a comparable enterprise payroll system.

  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance, including:

    • Fair Work Act
    • National Employment Standards
    • Modern Awards
    • PAYG
    • Superannuation
    • Single Touch Payroll (STP)
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with existing formulas and Pivot Tables.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on numerical accuracy and data integrity.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain payroll matters clearly to employees and managers.

  • A high level of discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive employee information.

Desirable Experience

It would be advantageous if you have:

  • Payroll experience within mining, resources or another rostered/FIFO workforce environment.

  • A Certificate IV in Payroll Administration or equivalent payroll experience.

  • Experience with payroll system testing, process improvement or automation.

If you're an experienced Payroll Officer looking for your next opportunity and enjoy working in a role where you can contribute beyond the day-to-day processing, we'd love to hear from you.
