Job summary

Challenger Services Group is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our Finance team on a part-time basis (4 days per week) in Sydney. You will contribute to accurate and timely payroll processing for a diverse workforce across multiple service industries.

The role emphasizes data integrity, compliance with payroll legislation and awards, and collaboration with Operations and People & Culture teams. A strong Excel skillset and proactive problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in payroll, ideally in high-volume environments.
• Strong Excel skills and data handling.
• Understanding of payroll processes, legislation and awards.
• Analytical, detail-oriented and data-driven.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organised, proactive and solutions-focused.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on time.
• Verify employee timesheet data for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain employee records and ensure payroll information remains current.
• Respond to payroll enquiries relating to leave balances, adjustments, terminations, and employee pay matters.
• Work closely with Operations and People & Culture teams to process employee changes and payroll updates.
• Assist with payroll reporting, superannuation, payroll tax, and leave reconciliations.
• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling employee information.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within payroll processes.
