Job summary

Elysium Noosa Resort on Hastings Street is seeking a part-time Payroll Officer to manage end-to-end payroll processing for our hospitality team. You will ensure accurate payments, compliance with Australian payroll legislation, and confidential handling of employee records.

Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller and Director of Finance, you will prepare payroll journals, monitor entitlements, and provide labour cost reporting to support operational decision-making.

Qualifications

• Experience as Payroll Officer or similar role in hospitality.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll laws and HIGA.
• Excellent attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Proficient with Excel and payroll/time attendance systems.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our Finance team on a part-time basis.This role is responsible for the end-to-end processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, maintaining employee payroll records, and providing valuable labour cost reporting to support operational decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have strong payroll experience, excellent attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and employment obligations.

About the Role

Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller and Director of Finance, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely administration of payroll, payroll reporting, employee entitlements, and WorkCover-related payroll processes. You will also work closely with Department Managers to monitor labour costs and support effective workforce planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time.
• Ensure compliance with all payroll-related legislation, including Superannuation, PAYG, Payroll Tax, WorkCover, and Fringe Benefits Tax.
• Review and validate timesheets and roster data prior to payroll processing.
• Process employee commencements, changes, and terminations accurately.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll journals after each pay cycle.
• Maintain payroll records while ensuring strict confidentiality and privacy.
• Monitor annual leave, personal leave, and long service leave provisions.
• Coordinate Long Service Leave transfers between Accor properties and Head Office where required.
• Administer and reconcile WorkCover claims and payments.
• Prepare payroll reports and provide labour cost analysis to management.
• Participate in weekly payroll and labour cost meetings with Department Managers.
• Support end-of-financial-year payroll obligations and reporting requirements.
• Assist with accounts receivable and other finance administration tasks as required.
• Provide support to the Assistant Financial Controller and Director of Finance on ad hoc projects and finance-related duties.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Payroll Officer, Payroll Administrator, or similar payroll-focused role.
• Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and award interpretation.
• Strong understanding of the Hospitality Industry (General) Award (HIGA) and its application within a hospitality environment.
• Strong understanding of payroll compliance requirements and employee entitlements.
• Experience using payroll and time & attendance systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
• The ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
