SydWest Multicultural is a not-for-profit organisation delivering services across Greater Western Sydney. we're seeking a Payroll Officer to deliver fortnightly payroll for 300+ staff using KeyPay, ensuring accuracy and compliance. You will work with HR and Rostering to resolve queries and support payroll system enhancements.

The role requires 3+ years in payroll, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years in payroll processing in a payroll office environment.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of end-to-end payroll.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in payroll processing and records.
  • Understanding of payroll system integrations with HR and rostering systems.
  • Experience with KeyPay is essential; WageEasy is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret SCHADS awards and relevant legislation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the Office suite.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end payroll processing for 300+ employees on a fortnightly cycle.
  • Respond to payroll queries and implement payroll amendments accurately.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and reports for internal/external reviews.
  • Reconcile and process payroll-related payments (superannuation, salary packaging, PAYG).
  • Ensure ATO/STP payroll compliance.
  • Maintain leave records and related payments, including long service levies.
  • Process workers' compensation claims and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with HR and Rostering to ensure timely processing.
  • Participate in testing, implementation, and review of payroll system changes.

Job Description

KEY PURPOSE

The Payroll Officer is responsible for the delivery of high-quality fortnightly payroll for 300+ employees, ensuring accurate processing of salaries in a time-sensitive manner.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • End-to-end payroll processing of 300+ employees on a fortnightly basis using KeyPay.
  • Respond to payroll queries and process payroll amendments accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and reports for internal and external reviews and compliance requirements.
  • Reconciliation and payment of all payroll related payments, eg Superannuation, Salary packaging, PAYG etc.
  • ATO/STP payroll compliance.
  • Leave maintenance and payments including CSI portable long service levy calculations and reimbursements.
  • Workers' compensation claims, payments and reconciliations
  • Work collaboratively with HR and Rostering teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll
  • Participate in the testing, implementation and review of payroll system changes, upgrades, integrations and new functionality
Desired Skills and Experience

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Minimum of 3 years in payroll processing in payroll team office environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of the end-to-end payroll process
  • Demonstrated high level of accuracy and attention to detail when processing payroll and maintaining records.
  • Understanding of payroll-related system integrations between HR, rostering systems and the interaction with relevant teams.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in payroll systems KeyPay (essential) WageEasy (desirable)
  • Sound ability to interpret awards (SCHADS) and relevant legislation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Dedication to maintaining confidential information
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet payroll deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
