Job summary

ThompsonCook in Melbourne CBD is seeking a standalone Payroll Lead to own end-to-end monthly payroll for the firm. You will manage payroll across 200+ staff within a small finance team, drive process improvements, and ensure accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll experience.
• Processing pay runs for 200+ staff.
• Experience in professional services is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Process timely, accurate end to end monthly payroll for the company.
• Month end report production and other ad hoc reporting as required.
• Assist with payroll-related financial reporting.
• Manage, calculate and process PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation and Workcover contributions.
• Process new starters, terminations, and changes in employment terms from a payroll perspective, including salary adjustments, parental leave, bonuses, termination calculations and other payroll adjustments as required.
• Administration and maintenance of the Payroll system, ensuring data is accurate and up to date at all times.
• Participate in Finance, Technology and other special projects across the firm as required.
• Identify opportunities for improvement for the payroll and broader finance function.

The Opportunity

Our client is a highly regarded business with offices in Melbourne and Sydney. This is a standalone Payroll Lead role, so you’ll be the firm’s go-to for all things payroll. You’ll own end-to-end monthly payroll across the company, and work within a small, collaborative finance team. Process improvement is a key priority, and our client wants someone who will question how things are done and make them better.

The Challenge

Reporting to the Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include:

• Processing timely, accurate end to end monthly payroll for the company
