Job summary

Sharp & Carter in Brisbane is seeking a Payroll Team Lead to own end-to-end payroll for weekly and fortnightly cycles, report to the National Payroll Lead, and guide a five-person team to ensure timely and accurate payments.

You will interpret Awards, ensure regulatory compliance, mentor staff, and drive process improvements in a collaborative, customer-service oriented environment.

• Proven experience managing end-to-end, multi-frequency payroll cycles.
• Strong Award interpretation skills.
• A solid understanding of regulatory compliance and reporting.
• Working knowledge of payroll systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing daily payroll processing, including reviewing payroll data for accuracy.
• Managing timesheets, salary and wage payments, EOM reconciliations and payments, and the distribution of payroll deductions.
• Maintaining employee records.
• Making sure all legislated requirements are met and reporting obligations are handled correctly.
• Interpreting Awards and applying them confidently.
• Identifying and correcting potential payroll issues before they become problems.
• Supporting payroll system enhancements and improving processes and efficiencies.
• Mentoring, developing and training team members.

About the role

As the Payroll Team Lead, you'll own end-to-end payroll for the business across weekly and fortnightly pay cycles. You'll report to the National Payroll Lead and work within a collaborative team of five. You'll be a go-to person for employees and managers across the business, and a driver of compliance, accuracy and timeliness.
