Job summary

Programmed Maintenance Services in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs seeks an experienced Payroll & HR Administration Officer. You will own end-to-end payroll processing and support HR administration and HRIS activities, leveraging Kronos to ensure accuracy across the employee lifecycle.

The role reports to People & Culture and offers exposure across payroll systems, compliance, and HR processes, with potential for broader People & Culture development in a collaborative, manufacturing industry setting.

Qualifications

  • Approx 3 years' experience in payroll, ideally covering Australian multi-state payroll.
  • Strong experience with HRIS/payroll systems, Kronos is highly regarded.
  • Good understanding of Australian payroll legislation, payroll tax, WorkCover and superannuation.

Responsibilities

  • Processing end‑to‑end fortnightly Australian payroll.
  • Managing timesheets, payroll adjustments, deductions, bonuses and remuneration changes.
  • Payroll tax, superannuation, WorkCover and STP requirements.
  • Payroll reconciliations and payroll reporting.
  • Administering salary packaging and novated leases.
  • Responding to employee payroll queries and resolving issues.
  • Supporting annual remuneration reviews and payroll compliance.
  • Interpreting awards and ensuring compliance with Fair Work requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and HRIS data.
  • Managing onboarding, offboarding, employment contracts and variations.
  • Supporting HRIS administration and process improvements.
  • Working closely with People & Culture and Finance to ensure data accuracy and smooth payroll processes.

Are you an experienced Payroll professional looking to broaden your HR experience?

We're looking for a Payroll & HR Administration Officer to join an established Australian business in the manufacturing sector. This is a hands‑on role combining end‑to‑end payroll, HR administration and HRIS responsibilities, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys payroll but is looking to further develop their broader People & Culture capability.

About the Role

Reporting into the People & Culture function, you will be responsible for ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time, while also supporting key HR administration and employee lifecycle activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Approx 3 years' experience in payroll, ideally covering Australian multi-state payroll
  • Strong experience with HRIS/payroll systems - experience with Kronos is highly regarded
  • Good understanding of Australian payroll legislation, payroll tax, WorkCover and superannuation
  • Experience with salary packaging and novated leases
  • Understanding of awards and Fair Work compliance
  • Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables and formulas
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
  • The ability to manage confidential information and competing priorities

Experience working within a manufacturing, operational or multi-site environment will be highly regarded.
