Job summary

Sharp and Carter is seeking an experienced Payroll Analyst to join a large national transformation program, focusing on data, systems and compliance beyond routine payroll processing. This role suits a professional who enjoys solving complex payroll challenges and partnering across projects to deliver accurate outcomes.

You will extract and validate data, model scenarios, support system migrations, and work with payroll, HR and project teams in a hybrid Sydney setup.

Qualifications

• Strong end-to-end payroll knowledge.
• Experience interpreting awards and payroll rules.
• Solid understanding of payroll compliance and regulation.
• Advanced Excel skills with strong data analysis capability.
• Experience working with large and complex payroll datasets.
• Strong reconciliation and problem-solving abilities.
• Exposure to payroll projects, transformations or system implementations.
• Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Extract, cleanse, transform and validate payroll data.
• Analyse and reconcile complex payroll datasets.
• Prepare payroll data for system migration and uploads.
• Conduct payroll audits, validation and data integrity checks.
• Interpret awards and assess payroll-related impacts.
• Complete redundancy and employee entitlement calculations.
• Support payroll remediation and compliance initiatives.
• Perform scenario modelling and workforce impact analysis.
• Identify payroll risks, anomalies and improvement opportunities.
• Partner with payroll, HR, finance and project teams throughout transformation activities.
