Job summary

MARS PARTNERSHIP PTY. LTD. is seeking a Payroll Analyst to join a fast-paced team responsible for accurate payroll processing across a large workforce in Victoria. You will analyse payroll data, ensure compliance with Awards, EBAs and Fair Work legislation, and drive improvements.

You will work closely with HR, Finance and external providers to deliver timely payroll, reconciliations, reporting and EOFY obligations, while maintaining data integrity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Payroll Analyst/Senior Payroll Officer/Payroll Specialist.
• Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, Awards, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with large or complex payroll environments.
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Analyse payroll data to identify discrepancies, trends and improvements.
• Support end-to-end payroll across weekly, fortnightly and monthly cycles.
• Ensure payroll processing complies with Awards, EBAs and Fair Work legislation.
• Reconcile payroll reports, superannuation, payroll tax and leave balances.
• Prepare and maintain payroll reporting, dashboards and analytics for management.
• Investigate and resolve payroll queries and complex issues.
• Assist with payroll audits and compliance reviews.
• Support payroll system upgrades, testing, implementations and process improvements.
• Partner with HR and Finance to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.

About the Role

As the Payroll Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the payroll function through detailed analysis, reporting, compliance monitoring, and payroll system administration. You will work closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, and external providers to ensure payroll operations run efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse payroll data to identify discrepancies, trends, and improvement opportunities
• Support the end-to-end payroll process across weekly, fortnightly, and/or monthly payrolls
• Ensure payroll processing is compliant with relevant Awards, EBAs, Fair Work legislation, and taxation requirements
• Reconcile payroll reports, superannuation, payroll tax, and leave balances
• Prepare and maintain payroll reporting, dashboards, and analytics for management
• Investigate and resolve payroll queries and complex payroll issues
• Assist with payroll audits and compliance reviews
• Support payroll system upgrades, testing, implementations, and process improvements
• Partner with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee and payroll data integrity
• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of sensitive payroll information
• Develop and document payroll procedures and process improvements
• Assist with EOFY processing, STP reporting, and other statutory obligations

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a Payroll Analyst, Senior Payroll Officer, or Payroll Specialist position
• Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, Awards, and compliance requirements
• Experience working within large or complex payroll environments
• Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data analysis
• Experience with payroll system Dayforce essential
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
