Sharp and Carter is partnering with a well-established ANZ organisation to appoint a Payroll Specialist in Melbourne. You will manage payroll processes for a diverse Australian workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple pay groups.

You will operate in a hybrid setup and contribute to improvements, reporting, and stakeholder support within a high-performing payroll team.

Qualifications

• Experience in end-to-end payroll within a medium to large organisation.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, payroll tax and superannuation.
• Experience interpreting Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
• Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence with large data.
• Proactive, detail-oriented and compliance-focused.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end payroll processing across multiple pay groups.
• Interpretation of Awards, Enterprise Agreements and legislative requirements.
• Maintaining payroll data integrity and employee records.
• Processing payroll adjustments, deductions, leave transactions and superannuation.
• Responding to employee and stakeholder payroll enquiries.
• Payroll reconciliations, reporting and compliance activities.
• Supporting payroll system updates, testing and implementation activities.
• Liaising with internal stakeholders and external agencies as required.
• Contributing to continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join a collaborative and high-performing payroll team.

The Role

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for the accurate and compliant processing of a large, complex payroll environment. Supporting a diverse workforce across Australia, you will play a key role in payroll delivery, compliance, reporting and process improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

• End-to-end payroll processing across multiple pay groups
• Interpretation of Awards, Enterprise Agreements and legislative requirements
• Maintaining payroll data integrity and employee records
• Processing payroll adjustments, deductions, leave transactions and superannuation
• Responding to employee and stakeholder payroll enquiries
• Payroll reconciliations, reporting and compliance activities
• Supporting payroll system updates, testing and implementation activities
• Liaising with internal stakeholders and external agencies as required
• Contributing to continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll within a medium to large organisation in an ECP or SAP environment
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, payroll tax and superannuation requirements
• Experience interpreting Awards and Enterprise Agreements
• Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication abilities
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large volumes of data
• A proactive, detail-oriented and compliance-focused approach to payroll operations
