Job summary

The Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne is seeking a Patient Liaison Officer to support patients and clinical teams across RMH in navigating private and compensable admission options. You will work within Revenue Services to provide clear information that informs financial consent while identifying revenue opportunities.

The role involves building relationships with hospital staff and supporting PLO colleagues, with a 7-day rotating roster and roaming service across wards and Emergency

Qualifications

• High level interpersonal and communication skills with a wide range of internal and external groups.

Responsibilities

• Timely and appropriate classification of patients with eligible health funds or third party cover (eg: TAC & Workcover).
• Approaching Medicare Ineligible Patients (Overseas Visitors) to identify insurance status.
• Working collaboratively with other Revenue Services workstreams (Billing, Collections and Cashiers) and be co-located across RMH sites as required.
• Participating in continuous improvement projects and playing a role in developing the Patient Liaison function.
• Being available weekends on a rotating roster to provide a roaming PLO service across wards and ED
