Job summary

Ballarat Tractors is seeking an experienced Parts Manager to lead our parts department in Ballarat, VIC. You will manage a small team, ensure fast, accurate service to customers and workshop, while growing parts sales and keeping stock under control.

This hands-on role requires parts knowledge and strong stock control, with the ability to work on the counter when needed and to collaborate with the service department to keep workshops supplied and efficient.

Qualifications

• Experience in agricultural, construction or automotive dealerships.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
• Strong parts interpretation and product knowledge.
• Good stock control and warranty understanding.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train and support the parts team, setting the standard for customer service.
• Manage stock levels, ordering, stocktakes and obsolete stock to keep inventory accurate.
• Drive parts sales and margins across counter, workshop and phone channels.
• Build relationships with customers, suppliers and the service department.
• Oversee warranty and returns processes with manufacturers.
• Monitor performance and report against targets.
• Ensure accurate use of our DMS (Equip) for quotes, orders and invoicing.
• Step in on the counter to interpret, quote and sell parts as needed.

Ballarat Tractors is a leading New Holland Agriculture and Kobelco dealer servicing farmers and contractors across western Victoria, with branches in Ballarat and Terang. We're a busy, close-knit team backed by a strong dealer group, and we're looking for an experienced Parts Manager to lead our parts department.

About the role

You'll take ownership of the parts department, leading a small team to deliver fast, accurate service to our customers and workshop while growing parts sales and keeping stock under control. This is a hands-on role, so you'll be on the counter when needed as well as managing the business side.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, train and support the parts team, setting the standard for customer service
• Manage stock levels, ordering, stocktakes and obsolete stock to keep inventory accurate and working capital under control
• Drive parts sales and margins, including counter, workshop and phone sales
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and our service department so the workshop has what it needs, when it needs it
• Oversee parts warranty and returns processes with manufacturers
• Monitor department performance and report against targets
• Ensure accurate use of our DMS (Equip) for quotes, orders, invoicing and stock control
• Step in on the counter to interpret, quote and sell parts as needed

About you

• Proven experience in parts, ideally in agricultural, construction or automotive dealerships
• Previous management or supervisory experience, or ready to step up from a senior parts role
• Strong parts interpreting and product knowledge
• Experience with a Dealer Management System (Equip or similar)
• Good understanding of stock control and warranty processes
• A customer-first attitude and clear communication skills
• Strong organisational and computer skills
