Job summary

The Benevolent Society in Cairns is seeking a part-time Speech Pathologist to support children aged 0–8 and their families at the Cairns Early Years Centre. The role offers meaningful work across centre, community settings and family homes with flexible, hybrid work options.

You will provide speech, language and feeding support, collaborate with families and professionals, and help build inclusive, capable environments that prepare children for school.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and member of Speech Pathology Australia.
• Experience providing communication and feeding support to children.
• Ability to respond to the needs of people of all abilities and cultural backgrounds.
• Work within a client‑centric approach while maintaining a positive mindset.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to team upskilling.

Responsibilities

• Provide Speech Pathology services to children and families through individual, group and play-based supports.
• Support children’s speech, language, communication and feeding development in natural early years environments.
• Work collaboratively with families, educators, the CEYC team, kindergarten staff and external services.
• Coach and build the capability of families, educators and professionals to support children’s development and participation.
• Contribute to inclusive early learning environments that support children’s preparation for school.
• Deliver services across the centre, community settings, schools, community centres and family homes.
